As a divorced Christian, I do ask myself if I failed God. I actually asked myself that more when we were still married.
The bible tells us that if a spouse wants to leave because of your faith to let them go. When I was first saved, my husband asked for a divorce...as a new Christian, I thought it was my duty to stay married so that he would see Jesus in me and eventually be saved.
This went on for years, with my husband brining up divorce many times. Each time, I said no because I felt I was doing God's will by staying in a horrible marriage.
After several counselors (2 of which were Christian) and being told to leave. I gave up. I agreed to the divorce. I was a more mature Christian by that time and had been looking back asking myself, did I make a mistake by staying married the first time, second time....etc. he asked for a divorce? Did I miss God's will completely?
What was the correct answer? Should I have continued to say no, or was yes the correct answer? _________________ http://www.salvationthruchrist.net |
